“Living like Lords…”
The team at Bickleigh Castle made every effort to to meet our (quite particular) needs, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our weekend. Our party (of stags!) had a great time, and we thoroughly enjoyed living like lords for the weekend. Thank you to Sarah and everyone behind the scenes; we couldn’t have been happier with the environment, freedom, and help provided by the friendly folk at Bickleigh Castle.
“They wanted a fairy tale venue & they got one…”
Kathryn & Jamie had the perfect wedding. They wanted a fairy tale venue & they got one… The accommodation was clean and well presented, the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast on each day was lovely & plenty of it.
Nick was in his element, he was able to go fishing and then we had the biggest party.
Everything went very smoothly thanks to Sharon (wedding co-ordinator), Matt & Richard and all the staff – nothing was too much trouble.
The ceremony was exactly what they wanted & the food at the wedding breakfast was lovely, so many people said what a lovely meal it was. Please thank Scott the chef for me as we did not get to see him.
The toastmaster made everything move along without a hitch & the jazz music was very Kathryn & Jamie!
The evening went so quick with the disco, then the spit roast & to end the evening the fireworks which were spectacular and went for quite a while. They were the perfect end to a perfect day.
Can you please thank all the staff for making Kathryn & Jamie’s day wonderful, amazing, fantastic, spectacular and one they will never forget.

“…made us feel like royalty, what princess looks nervous when living their fairy tale.”
Your goal is limitless to what extent you will go to make the weekend as special as you did… People spent the whole weekend asking if I was nervous but as you took care of everything and made us feel like royalty, what princess looks nervous when living there fairy tale.
Although every wedding is special you can be made to feel like you’re on a conveyer belt but with you guys it was all about making us feel welcomed, relaxed and content from the second we arrived to the moment we left.
The food was outstanding, the best food we’ve ever eaten at a wedding by far. The toast master helped everything to run smoothly, and where do I start on the fireworks.
If I can give any advice to brides to be it’s that, Polly the florists who I referred to as my fairy godmother decorates the castle so beautifully. Please save your money on other decorations and have the fireworks because they really do set your wedding apart from the rest. Words cannot describe the spectacular display you guys preform. They were breathtaking and magical.

Everything ran so smoothly and the time just flew by. The Great Hall made it a most romantic Ceremony and the blessing afterwards in the little Chapel was very special. I could write so much about the beautiful flowers, excellent food and good wine. It was a truly magical day from beginning to end not only for the Bride and Groom but for their family and friends. So glad we all stayed in the Castle’s courtyard cottages.

What a wonderful wedding Natasha and Andy had at Bickleigh Castle in July this summer. We shall never forget the enchanting setting, beautiful weather and the perfect service that was provided by you and your staff. Nothing was too much trouble, so that each guest felt relaxed and really enjoyed the whole day.

The castle and the grounds looked magnificent and the breakfast and entertainment quite superb.
Friends have been in contact and frequently describe the wedding as being like a fairytale. The day moved from one delightful sequence to another with effortless ease – always the hallmark of excessive behind the scenes work by you and your team.
The flowers throughout the castle were a delight to behold and, again , the frequent subject of compliments. But, apart from the obvious happiness of James and Emma, the real scene-stealers were the castle and chapel. Both were fantastic and it would be difficult to find a more attractive and romantic location for a wedding anywhere in Britain.
Thank you Robbie for allowing the tree planting and also James and me to fish on the morning of his wedding, a great thrill always to wade into a new river and on such a special day.
~ Graham Paskett, Staffs
It was even better than we imagined and our family and friends had a magnificent time. The venue and setting is really to die for, so picturesque and perfect for a wedding.
We do recommend to your future customers in taking the package including the wedding co-ordinator – especially if you don’t live in Devon. We found Suzi & Sharon a godsend, as well as the recommended contacts they and Sarah have. Whilst it was a package they were still very flexible to tailor it to our needs

It was magical – a fairytale wedding. The beautiful castle and grounds just embrace and enchant. You would not find a more perfect setting anywhere.
Our prayers were answered with beautiful weather and then the day just got better and better. I loved Jenny and Graham’s Bagpiper: he was a triumph and a great link between events. The talented musicians created a marvellous atmosphere as guests wandered the croquet lawn. The fireworks were spectacular as the cheering and applause bore out – what a lovely surprise for the guests.

From start to finish the day was superb, it was like being on a film set! And I definitely felt like a princess for the entire day! The castle and grounds looked absolutely stunning and everyone has commented about what a beautiful setting it was. Many of our friends have said that it was the best wedding they had ever been to.

It was a wonderful day seeing two special people unite, but it was made all the more special with the help of the Great staff of Bickleigh Castle.
Bickleigh Castle grounds are just magical and so peaceful – definitely will be visiting there again.
~ Nida, London
You’d thought of everything and the service and care you took throughout the wedding day was second to none. The Great Hall looked so beautiful and the blessing in the Chapel was really special for us both. The canapés were absolutely delicious and the Great Hall looked even more special with the open fire.
The Wedding Breakfast was exceptional both in terms of the food and the service. We loved that you served each table together so no-one was left waiting. I’ve not seen this done before and it was delightful – and went down very well with the guests.
You encouraged us to make the Castle our home for the weekend, which is exactly what we did, and we had the happiest time ever. You really do have a very special place and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you. Our guests have inundated us with thank yous as they had such a great time!

Our dreams began to come true on the day we visited and decided to be married at Bickleigh Castle. We have absolutely no regrets that we didn’t ‘shop around’ – it was love at first sight!
The help and advice along with the warmth and friendship offered by you and all your staff was absolutely second to none. You were all my fairy godmothers who granted my wishes and made my dreams come true and for that I will always be grateful. Your attention to detail, the way you supported us and our guests and your sincere care made our wedding a day one that I will never forget. Many of our guests have commented on what a beautiful day it was and they all agree that even in the heart of winter, Bickleigh was a stunning venue with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
When we look at the DVD photo album (which is often!) made by ‘Uncle Bob’ we filled with the warmth felt during our time in your lovely home. So in the future, whenever we are feeling a little blue we know that we can watch our DVD and smile at the many happy memories that it brings back to us.

Your promises of a remarkable wedding set the bar very high and I can tell you now that you did a fantastic job. Your venue is incredible, it enabled us to flow from one part of the ceremony to the other with fantastic ease and be wowed by every location.
The Great Hall with string quartet in the Minstrels’ Gallery was delightful and gave an intimate air of the occasion; the ancient Chapel has a beautifully romantic setting that provided a close family and cheery atmosphere which is surely unrivalled anywhere else. The Banqueting Hall with beamed ceiling and dressed in beautiful flowers was another spectacle for our guests and provided a great platform for our Wedding Breakfast and speeches. Scott delivered first class food for ninety hungry guests which was hot and delicious in addition to being on time and stylish in presentation.
Down to the lounge for coffee and cake and the new Bar area and Orangery which offered a superb space for our band and by now 140 guests. It only needed the hog roast and those fantastic fireworks that lasted for ages to end a perfect day.
~ Andy & Emma Bradbury, Exeter
… nothing could have prepared us for how magical and emotional the day was for us both. Bickleigh is a very special place with an amazing charm of its own. Everyone of our guests without fail commented on how wonderful a venue it was, like no other wedding venue they had been to before. Ian and I of course knew this from the moment we first viewed Bickleigh.
People have not stopped commenting on how delicious the food was and how amazing the fireworks were. They have left a lasting impression on everyone with comments like ‘they are the best they have seen’.
Ian and I felt a million dollars on our wedding day. It was perfect.
