Embracing the picturesque Devon countryside the 11th century Castle has constructed a beautiful and elegant Victorian style garden pagoda on the lawn next to the lovely 6th century Chapel.

This new and exclusive outdoor space, licensed for outdoor weddings, makes the most of the breathtaking surrounding landscape, with its natural woodlands, views of the River Exe and using the main Castle as a film set style backdrop.

Emma Hemmington, from Westcountry Wedding Planners said “Its hopelessly romantic! Bickleigh Castle is already bursting with character and charm, but this new addition certainly pushes it to a new level.

These days Brides are looking for venues that have ‘something extra special’. Bickleigh Castle not only has this but also offers huge value for money with their 3 day weddings compared to other venues offering the usual 1 day wedding for the same cost.”

Owner of the Castle Sarah Hay said, “Due to its visually stunning location we always knew we had the perfect opportunity to make more out of this wonderful country venue. But we have been recently concentrating on investing in other key and existing areas of the Castle, particularly the accommodation.

We have seen the increasing trend for outdoor and more bohemian weddings though and are delighted to be able to now offer this option to couples looking for the quintessential English wedding”.

With the venues existing array of versatile outdoor spaces, which are the preferred option for receptions and photographs, the ability for couples to now have their ceremony outside is a welcome offering.

This area also lends itself to be the perfect location for garden parties or festival-style events, especially when utilizing accessories such as lanterns, fairy lights and live music.
