ABOUT BICKLEIGH CASTLE

Bickleigh Castle is steeped in magic, mystery and enchantment – something that certainly appealed to owners Robbie and Sarah Hay when they first set eyes on it over a decade ago. As a unique Devon wedding venue, couples and their loved ones come together to make the Castle and surroundings their home for the duration of their stay. We can arrange an indoor or outdoor wedding, and cater for an intimate occasion with canapés or a full-scale fine dining experience. Bickleigh Castle provides the perfect setting for your special event.

Marie - Wedding Co-ordinator

I have worked at Bickleigh Castle for 5 years. It is a fantastic place to work and has such a friendly atmosphere, plus the history and beauty make it a very special place to work.

The best part of the job is working alongside the Bride and Groom and helping them plan their perfect wedding day.

I feel its very important to build up a good working relationship with each couple and being relaxed and having fun is the key to success.

Weddings at Bickleigh are truly beautiful and it is a pleasure to be part of the Bride and Grooms special day.

If you are looking for a beautiful venue? Pop by and say hi sometime soon....

Scott - Head Chef

Scott trained at Buxton College in Derbyshire. He then honed his trade working at exclusive hotels in and around Nottingham and the London area. Having worked his way up to the position of Head Chef, he decided to move back to his native Devon. Firstly, he ran a gastro pub for four years with his father, Tony. He then launched his own, independent, casual dining restaurant in Exeter. Whilst, at the restaurant he started doing a few events at Bickleigh Castle, on days off and soon realised that event catering was where his passion lay. Always one for a new challenge, he followed this new path.

Scott is happy producing food that is classically inspired and not too faddy. He gets most of his inspiration from dining in restaurants and from the many countries he has travelled to. His favourite chefs are the ones that don’t mess around with food too much, and some of his lecturers, who trained him at college, all those years ago.

The family that run it were warm and welcoming and were happy to chat and make us feel at ease. - Helen H
